‘Jatadhara is rooted in emotion, mythology & raw human conflict, not just a visual spectacle!’

Jatadhara a supernatural, mythological film

Sudheer Babu’s upcoming film ‘Jatadhara’ is an upcoming pan-Indian supernatural and mythological film. Shot in Telugu and Hindi, it has Sudheer Babu and Sonakshi Sinha, directed by Venkat Kalyan and Abhishek Jaiswal and produced by Prerna Arora.

Filmytown.com Editor Paresh B. Mehta catches up with the presenter / producer of Jatadhara, Prerna Arora amidst her hectic shuttling between Mumbai and Hyderabad (where the film is majorly shot with is post production being currently on there.

What were some of the biggest challenges you faced while making Jatadhara a visual spectacle, and how did the team overcome them?
First of all, thank you for calling Jatadhara spectacular—that means a lot to us. From the very beginning, we knew this wasn’t going to be an easy film to make. The scale demanded a lot—time, budget, technical precision, and a very strong emotional backbone. Naturally, there were hurdles—logistical challenges, extensive VFX work, coordinating a huge cast and crew. But honestly, when everyone on set believed in the story we were telling, even the toughest days felt purposeful. That collective energy carried us forward.

How is the experience of working with such a large team again after Rustom, Padman and other biggies?
About working with such a large team—it’s humbling. Cinema at this scale is never one man’s effort. Every frame you see on screen is the result of hundreds of people giving their best. For me, it was a learning curve and also an emotional journey, because I could sense the dedication of every artist and technician involved.

Recently, we’ve seen a surge in block bookings and inflated box office figures, with some films even releasing ads that exaggerate their collections to sway undecided viewers. How do you view this trend, and what impact do you think it has on audience trust and industry credibility?
“On the box office side, I feel numbers today can be very misleading. Corporate bookings and manipulated figures can create an illusion of success, but audiences are too smart now. Ultimately, only genuine audience approval keeps a film alive beyond that first weekend. For Jatadhara, we are not chasing manipulated records; we want real acceptance. If people connect with the story, if they talk about it with emotion, that’s the biggest success.”

Honestly, what will be in Jatadhara that will draw the audience to watch it in cinema halls?
“At a time when even the biggest films are struggling, I truly believe Jatadhara stands out because of its content. It’s rooted in emotion, mythology, and raw human conflict—it’s not just a visual spectacle. That gives us confidence that this film can become a genuine hit, not just by numbers, but by the way it resonates with people.”
